M O R G A N Hello, and welcome to my blog for the honors mentorship program! My name is Morgan, and I am a senior at North Forsyth High School. As you can probably imagine, I love Jesus, have a passion for making a difference in the world, and have aspirations that shoot for the moon. I believe that His plan will be extraordinary, and I can't wait to live it out. This year, I have the absolute pleasure of interning at three amazing places: Mountain Lake Church, CummingLocal.com, and at PERIOD, a youth-run nonprofit that strives to provide menstrual products for homeless women in need. I chose these areas because I knew that I'd be a part of something bigger than myself and that I'd have a great time while doing it. Some of my very best friends work with me at Mountain Lake, and I am very blessed to say that my mentor is one of the best people I've ever met. Everyone at CummingLocal is amazing as well, and I've had the experience of a lifetime working at PERIOD.
M Y M E N T O R S H I P In all three of my positions, I have the pleasure of working in journalism, advertising, and mass media. At Mountain Lake Church, I run the student social media accounts (@mlcmiddle and @mlchigh). I post 5 times per week, do the Instagram stories during Wednesday night and Sunday morning services, and have the responsibility of assembling a photography team for taking high quality pictures during services. I also occasionally post on the blog. Additionally, through my work at CummingLocal, I write one article per month about awareness on issues(i.e. service dogs, mental health, and epilepsy). These articles are pubished on the website, and a few in MyForsyth magazine. Finally, I work at a nonprofit called PERIOD, where I run the Facebook and Instagram stories. I post on Facebook on Tuesday and Thursdays, as well as try to post on Instagram stories every day. I publicize things like PERIOD Con, packing parties, and chapters. At Mountain Lake I work with Nathan Castleberry and the rest of the amazing student staff. And CummingLocal, I work with Mrs. Walkup, and at PERIOD, I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with Nadya Okamoto and other amazing youth who are changing the world, one tampon at a time.
M Y F U T U R E In the future, I plan to attend college and double major in Pre-Law, Spanish, and Advertising. After college, my dream is to work at a church or nonprofit and make a difference in the world. This mentorship will help my do that because I am doing exactly what I will be ten years from now and learning how to time manage.
